Among the direct sources of Shakespeare's works, Ovid's Metamorphoses is arguably the most influential. Roughly ninety percent of the Shakespeare's allusions to classical mythology refer to tales included in Metamorphoses. Set one midsummer night within the mind of a young William Shakespeare, Shakespeare and the Muses, spins a tale of mythical Muses coming to inspire the would-be Bard of Avon.
